Erlacherhof
The Erlacherhof is the seat of the city president. Before voting weekends, the doors are open. The voters of the city of Bern can cast their ballots in the City Council Hall; in other words, the place where the government of the city of Bern, the City Council, meets for its weekly sessions.
The city of Bern is already doing a lot for sustainable development and the achievement of the SDGs. But there is also still a lot to do. Bern has set down this homework in its framework strategy for sustainable development - RAN2030. Bern is the first city in German-speaking Switzerland to have its own strategy for implementing the SDGs.
The city of Bern has summarised the need for action in six areas:
1. social cohesion and equal opportunities
2. public spaces and biodiversity
3. climate protection and climate adaptation
4. ecological, social and innovative business location
5. urban finances
6. participation and partnerships.
For implementation, all directorates and departments of the city must work together.
The City of Bern wants to be a role model for sustainable development. However, it can only achieve the SDGs together with business, science and civil society. Business in particular can play a key role in sustainable development. In the city of Bern, committed companies have joined forces to form the Climate Platform of Business network and are committing to voluntary CO2 cuts.
