SDG 2: Zero Hunger

All people should have access to sufficient and healthy food supplied with all essential nutrients.

Sustainable agriculture plays a central role in increasing yields or preserving ecosystems through genetic diversity of seeds, crops and animals. Diverse and sustainable agriculture is more adaptable to the impacts of climate change.

Sustainable agriculture ensures a living wage for those who work in it. Equal access to land, knowledge, markets and financing, as well as more equitable trade systems are needed as framework conditions.

Current situation:

Worldwide: one in 10 people in the world is undernourished. The Covid crisis has worsened the situation. The state of food security and nutrition in the world 2021 FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, WFP, WHO.   

Switzerland: An Agroscope study shows: In organic vegetable fields, the number and species diversity of nematodes are significantly greater than in conventionally managed fields.
